Synopsis (Goodreads)

Sam Brandis was Tate Jones’s first: Her first love. Her first everything. Including her first heartbreak.

During a whirlwind two-week vacation abroad, Sam and Tate fell for each other in only the way that first loves do: sharing all of their hopes, dreams, and deepest secrets along the way. Sam was the first, and only, person that Tate—the long-lost daughter of one of the world’s biggest film stars—ever revealed her identity to. So when it became clear her trust was misplaced, her world shattered for good.

Fourteen years later, Tate, now an up-and-coming actress, only thinks about her first love every once in a blue moon. When she steps onto the set of her first big break, he’s the last person she expects to see. Yet here Sam is, the same charming, confident man she knew, but even more alluring than she remembered. Forced to confront the man who betrayed her, Tate must ask herself if it’s possible to do the wrong thing for the right reason… and whether “once in a lifetime” can come around twice.

With Christina Lauren’s signature “beautifully written and remarkably compelling” (Sarah J. Maas, New York Times bestselling author) prose and perfect for fans of Emily Giffin and Jennifer Weiner, Twice in a Blue Moon is an unforgettable and moving novel of young love and second chances.

My Review:

Ever since this book is published, there was quite a buzz on bookstagram. The Unhoneymooners that I read last year made me a huge fan of Christina Lauren. And it also made me quite eager to sink my teeth in Twice in a Blue Moon. Not to mention the beautiful cover I fell for. Twice in a Blue Moon is a second chance love story about instant love, betrayal, and heartache. Tate and Sam met each other when they were visiting Britain. The sudden sparks started flying between them. They instantly fell for each other. But it doesn’t end here. Something happened that shattered Tate’s trust in Sam and broke her heart. Many years later, their paths were collided again in much unexpected circumstances. Once again, Tate’s still wounded heart tried to jump towards her first love, Sam. Is it easy to forget past betrayal? Would she be able to forgive him for what he did? They say you never forget your first love. Would Tate be able to forget him and move on? This book was really cute, soft and heart-warming. I loved Sam a lot. He was the kind of person who would do anything for the happiness of his family. For him, family always comes first. The ending did not satisfy me a lot. I felt like something was missing, or maybe I was expecting a little too much from the ending. Nevertheless, Tate and Sam’s story is very enjoyable to read and it won’t disappoint you. Definitely recommended!

My favorite Lines:

“For the first time in my life I get it: home isn’t always a space; it can be a person.”

“I don't know why people think permanent denial is better than temporary disappointment.”

“A watched pot never boils, and a watched phone never rings.”

“He’s the one who taught me what love looked like and felt like and then taught me it’s a lie. I have never been able to come back from that.”
