Goodreads Synopsis:
An office attraction becomes something more when they're off the clock in this delightful romantic comedy by the USA Today bestselling author of Not the Girl You Marry.
State attorney Bridget Nolan is successful in all aspects of her life--except romance. After breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, she's been slow to reenter the dating scene. To be honest, she has more important things to do like putting bad guys behind bars. But with her brother's wedding right around the corner, she suddenly needs a date and fast. Lucky for Bridget, the legal intern is almost done with his program.
Matt Kido is dumbstruck by Bridget--total love at first sight--but there's one problem. She's totally off-limits while she's his boss. But the moment he no longer reports to her, Matt asks her on a date. An impulsive decision takes them to Las Vegas where, as the saying goes, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
Unless you put a ring on it.
My Review:
"Not That Kind of Guy" is a book that combines humor, steamy romance, and drama all in one. The story is about Bridget Nolan, a successful lawyer who is determined to protect her heart after a messy break-up with her long-time boyfriend. The main character, Bridget, is a fierce and outspoken woman who is not afraid to speak her mind. I really enjoyed her character and found her relatable in many ways.
The story takes a turn when Bridget meets her intern, Matt Kido. Matt is charming, kind, and handsome, and Bridget finds herself attracted to him despite her best efforts to resist. The chemistry between the two is palpable, and their witty banter kept me hooked from the beginning.
As the story progresses, the plot becomes more complex, with unexpected twists and turns. The story takes an unexpected turn when Bridget and Matt drunkenly get married in Vegas. The author did a great job of keeping the story fresh and engaging by adding this dramatic twist. Although this part of the plot is similar to the Hollywood movie, "What Happens in Vegas," the book has a unique take on it that kept me entertained.
One of the things that I appreciated about the book was the way the author developed the characters. Bridget's character arc was particularly interesting. Throughout the book, she learns to open up and trust others again. Matt, on the other hand, learns to stand up for himself and take control of his life. I enjoyed watching both characters grow and develop over the course of the story.
The romance between Bridget and Matt is the driving force of the story, and it is steamy and well-written. The author did an excellent job of creating sexual tension between the characters without making it feel forced or gratuitous. The romance is sweet and satisfying, and I found myself rooting for the characters to end up together.
The book is not without its flaws, however. The pacing could have been improved in some parts of the book, and there were some instances where the dialogue felt a bit contrived. Additionally, some of the secondary characters could have been fleshed out more.
Overall, "Not That Kind of Guy" is a great read for anyone who enjoys a good romantic comedy. The book is funny, heartwarming, and steamy, and it kept me engaged from beginning to end. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a lighthearted and entertaining read.
In conclusion, I highly recommend "Not That Kind of Guy." It is a well-written, engaging book that combines humor, steamy romance, and drama in a way that keeps the reader entertained throughout. The characters are well-developed, and the romance between Bridget and Matt is satisfying and sweet. Although there are some flaws in the book, they do not detract from the overall reading experience. I gave this book 4 stars because it is an enjoyable read that I would definitely recommend to others.
