Book: You Deserve Each Other

Author: Sarah Hogle

Genre: Contemporary

Rating: 5 stars

Goodreads Synopsis:

Naomi Westfield has the perfect fiancé: Nicholas Rose holds doors open for her, remembers her restaurant orders, and comes from the kind of upstanding society family any bride would love to be a part of. They never fight. They're preparing for their lavish wedding that's three months away. And she is miserably and utterly sick of him. Naomi wants out, but there's a catch: whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill. When Naomi discovers that Nicholas, too, has been feigning contentment, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare. But with the countdown looming to the wedding that may or may not come to pass, Naomi finds her resolve slipping. Because now that they have nothing to lose, they're finally being themselves--and having fun with the last person they expect: each other. When your nemesis also happens to be your fiancé, happily ever after becomes a lot more complicated in this wickedly funny, lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy debut.

My Review:

To be very honest, when I approached this book, I thought I would not like it so much. But, what a joy to read such a book! There were moments when I could not stop myself from laughing out loud. Incredibly entertaining book!

About the Book: This story is about Naomi and Nicholas, about how they fell in love, got engaged, move in and realize that they can’t even stand each other, but then considered to give each other second chance at falling in love again. Naomi, after moving in with Nicholas, realized that he is a mama’s boy, that his mother, Deborah Rose, is a total control freak and dictates everything about his life. She starts feeling as if there is no connection left between her and Nicholas; and everything is about Deborah, she even takes control of what Naomi should wear on her wedding; the cake, the flowers, wedding card, each and everything is controlled by Deborah, and Naomi does not have a say in her own marriage which in fact leads her to hate the entire Rose family.

What she does not realize is the fact that Nicholas is as much fed up of his mother as Naomi herself. He also wants to free himself from the shackles of his mother. And also he loves Naomi. Would they be able to give each other second chance?

The thing I loved most about this book was the banter and fights between Naomi and Nicholas. Not even wanting to face each other, they are resolved to make the other’s life miserable; but the love they thought has evaporated, still lingers. For the first half of the book, I hated Nicholas for being so insensitive and shallow kinda of person, but when I came to know about his true personality I loved him. I loved both Naomi and Nicholas. Truly, they deserved each other. Highly recommended book!
