My Review:
A Vow so bold and Lovely is the third and final book of The Cursebreaker series. I fell in love with the characters and plot line instantly after reading the first book as I adored Rhen and Harper’s story. The second book was equally fantastic for I loved Grey (I imagined Henry Cavill as Grey) and Lia Mara’s story. This final book was the most anticipated book of the year for me and I dreaded reading it because I had high hopes. Thankfully this book lived up to all the expectations I had.
I loved this book the most because it is told from multiple points of view. We got to read about the thoughts of all main characters. I desperately wanted to know about Rhen’s point of view in book 2 when he made all the bad choices regarding Grey and Tycho. But here in this book, thankfully Kemmerer has left no stone unturned and we got to read about Rhen’s actual motives behind his bad decisions, Harper’s love for Rhen, Grey’s feelings for Lia Mara and Rhen, and also Lia Mara’s hesitations regarding taking important decisions while ruling her country.
Brigid Kemmerer’s writing is easily comprehensible and fast paced. It is not complicated and verbose which I sometimes find with long fantasy books. She has a way of carving and weaving emotions into her dialogues and quotes. It is very well-written, gripping, engaging and convincing. I really enjoyed the writing style.
I really loved how the story is played. I was surprised to see many low rated reviews on goodreads, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Though I would have loved to see more interaction between Rhen and Grey, the overall ending was more realistic and satisfying. Rhen and Harper’s ending felt a bit abrupt. I wanted to read more about how the problems are really solved at the end. I really hope there will be a 4th book in the series, or a novella so that a few things that did not seem resolved will look more satisfying. And also because I want to read more about Rhen and Harper.
Overall, this book is very entertaining and narrated in an engaging way. This is undoubtedly one of a few series that will stay in my heart for a very long time. It is indeed unforgettable story of Rhen, Harper, Grey, and Lia Mara, a story that one will keep thinking about even after you finish it. Highly recommended book!
